The Burgess Banquet is the signature annual event hosted by the Texas A&M Lettermen’s Association which celebrates the Texas A&M Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees, Hall of Honor Inductee, and the Lettermen’s Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient. It is a peer-selected recognition by fellow Aggie letterwinners.
The event bears the name of Hershel Burgess ’29, who won three letters in football and two in track & field. The event started as an informal tailgate breakfast in Burgess’ pasture in Bryan. It transitioned to serve-yourself burritos at the Ramada Inn and has become the formal event we celebrate today.
